Crime rate rises in New Mexico in 1966 FBI report
FBI data show New Mexico had 18,883 crimes in 1966, up from 15,582 in 1965, with the crime rate per 100 000 rising from 1 514 to 1 847. State Rep Ray D McNeill 53 of Hobbs Lea County rancher died Wednesday night in Denver Colorado of an apparent heart attack on returning from a Roundup Montana visit. He had served as a Lea County commissioner two terms and was a state representative since 1964. Survivors include Muriel his wife a Roundup daughter Mrs Pat Blackburn another Hobbs daughter Marilyn Raye and a son William F M McNeill all of Roundup or Hobbs.
