Police Investigate Weekend Auto Accidents In Lovington
Lovington City Police investigated two weekend crashes with one injury. Gladys Baker was cited for failure to yield after her 1950 Ford hit Dora Holguin Montana’s 1960 Oldsmobile at Love and Central Streets. Damages: Ford $150, Oldsmobile $300. A 1959 Chevrolet owned by Pearl Turner was damaged $75 after a 1964 Ford backed into it. Florence Drewery received no citation. A 23 year old woman, Kaye Webb Smith, was taken to Lea General Hospital after her 1965 Mustang rear ended a Plymouth driven by Anastacio Oranda on the Plains Highway. Both drivers faced no citations.

Prominent rancher shot in cattle dispute near Silver City
Frank McCauley, 42, a prominent rancher from southwestern New Mexico, was in serious condition after being shot from horseback during an argument over cattle possession at Brock Ranch near Silver City.
