Several individuals were arrested over the weekend in Texas and surrounding areas. CAPE KENNEDY UP I reports a flying photographic laboratory, the lunar Orbiter, is set for launch at 2 03 p m EDT atop an Atlas Agena rocket. The 850 pound craft aims to map nine potential Apollo landing zones and photograph the back of the moon and Surveyor I, with a possible braking burn Saturday to end a 238 944 mile voyage.
Friday night a two car crash at North Main and Jackson involved a 1964 Ford sedan driven by Flo Ellen Chandler and a 1965 Chevrolet pickup driven by Billy Royce Medlin. Police report damage estimates of 550 for the Ford 647 for the pickup and 20 for a city stop sign.
Master Sergeant George Rhodes from Carlsbad will interview prospective applicants for the United States Air Force in Loveington on Wednesday August 10. Interviews take place in the courthouse basement from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. Rhodes notes a continuing need for qualified nurses and medical specialists.

Funeral services are pending at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland for Larry Powell 24 Lovington victim of an oilfield accident near Carlsbad. Powell died about 5:00 a.m. after suffering second and third degree burns while working on a rig as the well blew. He is survived by his wife Judy two sons Larry Michael and Steven Wayne his parents Mr. and Mrs A E Powell two brothers Alvin Powell and James Powell and one sister Mrs A D Spears all of Lovington burial will be in Best Haven cemetery Midland Texas.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Gregor y Howard Gilchrist 18 of McDonald Tatum after a tractor overturning accident on State Road 18 near McDonald. He died Saturday at 5 25 p m with survivors including his parents Mrs and Mr Howard Gilchrist and sister Mrs Sharon Hoyle. Burial was at Lovington Cemetery with Smith Rogers funeral home in charge.
