Earl Dawes 69 of 710 West Taylor died in Lovington Sea General Hospital at 3 30 a m after two days of convalescence He is survived by son Roy Dawes of the U S Air Force in Germany Services will be announced by Smith-Rogers upon the arrival of the son Dawes worked in the oilfields for many years and was semi retired at the time of his death
Marion C. Benham chairs the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation County Committee. Nominations seek the best people, with elections set for the third week in September. The ASC system backs farm programs including conservation, price support, and credit. The 1967 edition of the Lovington High School Big Blue band begins its season on Thursday August 10 with sophomores meeting at 9 a.m. at the band building and upperclassmen at 10 30 for concert rehearsal. New Lovington band members are invited to join as preparations continue for the Lea County Fair parade.
Father William H. Martin and his wife Joan depart Lovington August 13 returning to New York to finish training at Belle vue Hospital with the council of clinical training. They move to Ft. Lee New Jersey where he will qualify as a chaplain supervisor and train future hospital chaplains while she resumes teaching math at Ft. Lee High School.

Riots and curfews occurred in Wichita Kansas Elgin Iowa Providence Alaska Milwaukee Wisconsin as Vice President Humphrey called the nation in trouble. Housing Secretary Weaver warned cities risk disintegration if unrest continues while public opinion and Congress grow negative.
Lea County reappraisal moves toward field work in Tatum within two to three weeks. McMorries says abstracting is nearly done, maps are in progress, and coding will follow state standards to reach uniformity and equity across Lea County properties.
Gov. David Cargo will choose an insurance carrier for the state employees program from 15 bidders. Both Taylor and Central Junior High bands begin practice Monday morning at their schools. All students who moved to Lovington this summer and advanced band members are requested to attend.
