Wild 110 mph chase ends in Lovington arrest
Lovington, Hobbs and County officers pursued a 1956 car driven by David F. Martin at speeds over 110 mph on highways and over 95 mph in town. The pursuit crossed city blocks, roadblocks failed, and the vehicle was finally stopped 10 miles south of Hobbs. A warrant was filed by Lovington police.

Accident near Tatum causes minor damage
A Sunday morning crash south of Tatum between a tractor trailer and a passenger car left both vehicles with minimal damage and no injuries. Wayne L. Betenbaugh, 26, of Tatum, side swiped the Mead Bread Company truck on State Road 18. The car sustained about 300 dollars in damage while the trailer had 75 dollars in dents and paint loss.
