At Point of the Mountain Utah 15 women musicians were held hostage for over an hour during a Friday night riot at the Utah State Prison. No one was injured and prison officials say only a small number of the 551 inmates participated. The disturbance ended when guards moved in as order was restored.
Fifteen women and one man members of the Kitchen Rhythmettes band from Price Utah were taken as hostages as inmates rioted inside a prison auditorium. A guard shakedown recovered bats and knives while inmates demanded a State Board of Corrections run by penologists and psychologists and a merit system for early release.
