Police probe Hoffa disappearance as they seek the man he planned to meet at a Bloomfield Hills restaurant. Gov Milliken cites speculation Hoffa was meeting a reputed Mafia kingpin Anthony Giacalone named as possible contact. Hoffa’s family reports he was due home at 4 pm Wednesday. witnesses saw him waiting alone outside the restaurant earlier.
President Ford announced he will veto a proposed six month extension of oil price controls as Congress prepares for recess. Press Secretary Ron Nessen said the decision comes amid a security summit in Helsinki and amid efforts in Congress to block the measure.
