Woman Escapes Injury After Car Hits Utility Pole
Gail Hale a 19 year old from Lovington escaped injury when her 1962 Ford Falcon struck a utility pole seven miles north of Lovington on State Highway 18. The car went into a bar ditch and skid before breaking the pole in half. Damages were estimated at 250 for the car and 100 to 175 for the pole and fence. Hale was shaken but uninjured while traveling home from college for Easter holidays. The wreck occurred at 3 55 p.m.

Walter Cotz 18 Dies in Lovington Auto Crash
Funeral services for Walter Clyde Cotz 18 of Lovington are scheduled Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. E J Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Lovington Cemetery under Smithe Rogers Funeral Home arrangements. Cotz died Tuesday morning at Lea General Hospital from injuries in an early Sunday auto accident near Lovington. He lived at 111 South Third Street and worked at Whittenberg Bakery.
