Pythians of New Mexico Conclude Grand Lodge Session

Las Vegas hosts the 91st Grand Lodge session of Knights of Pythias and Knights of Pythias Sisters. Sylvia Kerr elected Grand Manager. Earle Kerr and Willard Holt named to key committees. Armenia relief praised. Lincoln quotation endorsed in support of law. Craige Cabell of Norfolk praised for supreme lodge appointment. Hugh H. Williams named to chair a supreme lodge committee. New Mexico officers elected include J. W. Chapman as Grand Chancellor and J. A. Smiley as Grand Master at Exchequer.

Sylvia Kerr Is Signally Honored By Pythian Sisters

Mrs. Sylvia Kerr of Western Star Temple No. 1 was elected Grand Manager at the Grand Temple meeting of the Pythian Sisters of New Mexico in Las Vegas. Lordsburg boosted its status as Kerr won by a handsome majority, earning a four year term and a future past Grand Chief. Western Star Temple 41 held a royal welcome with luncheon and reception in Lordsburg Monday night.

Weekend ride to Animas ranch yields horseback treks and prairie jaunt

An early Saturday departure for a two day ranch sojourn on the Animas included Mrs Long and others. They rode Box canyon and chased jack rabbits and rattlers, danced at Mrs Maddox’s, and covered over thirty miles to Indian signs before returning to Lordsburg after three. The group noted blistered arms and noses and rheumatic walking by Sunday night.

New Mexico Bankers Hold Twelfth Convention in Las Vegas

The New Mexico Bankers association held its 12th annual convention in Las Vegas from September 22 to 25 with about a hundred bankers present. Attendees included representatives from New York Kansas City Denver Dallas and Los Angeles banks. Governor Bailey of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City gave an outstanding address, and John H. Crowell cashier of the First National Bank was named to the educational committee.

Democratic candidates James F P Hinkle and Senator Jones declare support for the Eighteenth Amendment and strict enforcement of prohibition laws. They telegraphed to the Methodist Episcopal conference in session at Raton stating they favor federal and state enforcement with no room for doubt. The reply counters Republican claims of ambiguity and asserts a clear pro prohibition stance.

New United States Commissioner Appointed for Four Years

The U S commissioner appointment was announced by Judge Colin Neblett via long distance while the eldor reached Albuquerque. The appointee will succeed Judge J W Fitzpatrick who moved to Colorado.
