They agreed to extend their stay for two nights to view the Old Timers and attend the Fair and Men. They were lodged at Ellison Courts and entertained at the Sheriff's Rodeo dance at La Club Friday night.

Carl Cousland Injured In Highway 70 Wreck
Carl Cousland, 39, of the area, suffered a serious accident last Friday night on Highway 70 in New Mexico. He lost control, struck a road reflector, went over a bank, and overturned. He was rushed to Paso hospital with a broken neck according to the latest information.

Freestone Receives First Bale of Cotton Award
R H Freestone of near Virden New Mexico baled the season's first cotton and won 300 dollars total from the Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce and two local companies. The award covered costs. the bale and check were shown at First National Bank before the sale on Saturday. The gin repair delay prompted a Western Cotton Company manager to fetch a part from Wilcox to finish baling.

Residents of Lordsburg are asked to have a Princess represent the town in the 1953 54 Sun Carnival to be held in El Paso Texas this December. School officials are asked to consider band participation in the official parade and all residents may secure ticket priority for the Sun Bowl on January 1 for out of town visitors ahead of the public sale. The Sun Carnival enters its 19th year with a week long celebration beginning late December after Christmas.

Parade Sponsored By Old Timers Bright Parade Day
The Old Timers sponsored parade moved at 9 30 Saturday morning from Central School to Railroad Avenue and the fairgrounds as 20 floats and riders rode by. Winners included Woman's Club first with 25 dollars Virden School second with 20 dollars Junior School third with 15 dollars Beta Sigma Phi fourth with 10 dollars. Notable floats honored were Central School Lordsburg Wilson Greyhound Cafe and more. Jeolifies awards were presented by Arizona Highway 70 Association president Monroe Claridge and Safford Chamber leaders with a noon luncheon at the Legion hall.

The Py thian Sisters of New Mexico held their annual session in Albuquerque last week. Mrs Mertice Brooks past grand chief was ill and could not attend yet she was elected Supreme Representative from New Mexico to attend the 1954 Des Moines Iowa session and the 1956 session in another city.
