The new administration proposes thrift and centralized hiring, urging small talks with appointees, consolidation of travel, and use of a single state car for officials traveling together. Two or three state leaders already rode in one car to save costs, a policy urged to expand to five or six officials and fewer cars.

Last Friday night the Women’s Society of Christian service at the Methodist Church hosted an ECAPTION event. Mrs Grace Giles led arrangements and Mrs L B Robinson directed the program presented by the Lordsburg Mosie Club. Reverend and Mrs F R Poage and Mrs Roy Melugin greeted guests, with Mrs Albert Coursey and Mrs Paul Marsbury serving refreshments. About eighty people attended.

Mrs. James Redford reports her husband Captain James Redford fully recovered from a chest wound suffered in France in July and has rejoined his battalion there.
Captain Warren P. Fuller, son of Mr and Mrs Claude Fuller, promoted to Major in the Air Corps per War Department announcement issued last Monday.
The N. and T. Club met Tuesday at Mrs. Luella Clark’s home for an afternoon of sewing. Present were Mesdames 8. M. Chase A. L. Green Charles Fuller W. P. Hill R. B. Ownby F. R. Poage G. W. Trimble and AH. L. Seofield.
Little Jimmy Redford observed his second birthday on September ninth with a party for several of his little friends and their mothers. Attending were Mrs. Pearl Hardin and daughter, Mrs. H. H. Bryant and children, Mrs. Pat Castella and children, Mrs. Sarah Brown and children, Dorrance Atkinson, Geraldeen and Janice Kerr and Bobby, and Annabelle Poindexter. Unable to attend were Sammie Willis, Caroline Jones and Sharon Bowman.
Mrs George P Jeffus entertained members of the Wednesday Sewing Club at her home. The afternoon was spent sewing and visiting, and refreshments were served.

Mr and Mrs E P Allen have acquired the Mesilla Park Moving Picture Theatre and opened a new electrical operation. James Allen and Marvin Dowing will serve as manager and operator of the Mesilla Theatre. On Tuesday night the K P Lodge and guests held a pot luck dinner at the Ownby home then danced at the K P Hall for a superb, enjoyable social evening.
