West Coast Gasoline company started a new plant at Aztec the first of the week and now produces over 400 gallons of gasoline daily. Gas content is about half a gallon per 1000 cubic feet, with a two million foot unit possible when gas supply grows to capacity. Current gas supply is about 300 000 feet, enough for city demand. Future output may ship to statewide and Colorado markets.

Tucson resident Fireman L G Ward died when Sunset Limited No 102 eastbound derailed nine miles east of Maricopa amid heavy rain. The locomotive and trailing cars toppled after rails spread at about 40 miles per hour, injuring others and derailing ten Pullman cars. Railroad officials linked the crash to rail damage and noted a prior similar wreck near Lordsburg in May.
