Mavericks Fall At Ruidoso In Tough League Showdown

Ruidoso Warriors defeated Lordsburg Mavericks 26 to 14 last Saturday at Ruidoso. Buster Estrada scored the first touchdown, Porkey Martinez added the extra point, and Charl ey Winslow found Steve Harper for an 11 yard TD in the fourth. Danny Galvan earned offensive player, Rau Bellarano defensive player of the week. Mavericks return home Friday hosting Hot Springs Tigers at 8 p.m. Parents Night will be held with a halftime introduction.

Lordsburg School Board Meeting Set for Tuesday

Lordsburg Municipal School Board will hold its regular meeting Tuesday November 4 at 7 p.m. in the administration building. Discussion will cover the School Evaluation requested by the legislature and review of current school improvements with plans for further upgrades. Citizens are invited to attend.

Captain John Bradford to Retire From New Mexico State Police

Captain John K. Bradford, longtime commander of the Albuquerque district, retires October 31 after 32 years on the force. Bradford served in Lordsburg, Silver City, Las Cruces, and Albuquerque, led the southwestern district, was state police chief 1965-1967, and attended the FBI Academy. He and his wife Margaret have a son in the Air Force and a daughter in Chico, California.
