Organization of Lordsburg Lions Club to Be Perfected

A Liberal report states Lions International approved 20 applicants for a Lordsburg Lions Club with more signing on. Local businessmen, professionals and community leaders express support and plan a noonday luncheon to unite merchants, Boy Scouts, libraries and schools through service projects.

Bad Auto Wreck on the Duncan Highway

On Thursday night near Lordsburg L G Hales and Taylor Cloudt with a young child stopped on the Duncan road to signal passing traffic when a Hudson car driven by Mrs Pauline Fulbright and Miss Christine Van Lone from Longoh swerved and struck the Hales vehicle. Mrs Fulbright was seriously injured and taken to Lords hospital. The Hales party escaped serious injury.

Mrs Pauline Fulbright of Length suffered injuries in a Thursday night accident and is improving at Lordsburg hospital. Ernest Bonine of Mundres New Mexico is also being treated there and plans to leave soon. Mr and Mrs Gayle DeVilbiss of Valedon announce the birth of a baby girl named Betty. The newborn and mother are doing well. Olney had her tonsils removed and went home the next day. Margaret Brubaker of Dunfan is hospitalized in Lordsburg. W Potts recently had surgery and is improving. Eppinett of La city involved in an auto crash was discharged to proceed to San Pedro California. A H McDaniels recently had a major operation and has resumed medical duties.

Old Timer and Author Visits Here This Week

Anton Mazzanevich a pioneer region ident of Shakespeare and Lordsburg and author of The Trailing of Geroni mo and other short stories visited Lordsburg this week with old friends. He gathered data for his next book to be distributed next spring and planned stops in Duncan Willcox Bowie Benson and Phoenix on his return to Hollywood. He attended Tombstone Helldorado on October 17 and 18 and missed the semi centennial here.

Teachers to convention in Albuquerque with notable speakers

The Lordsburg high school faculty will attend the teachers convention in Albuquerque from November 5th to 7th. Speakers include W. P. Dearing president of Oakland City College J F Zimmerman of New Mexico University Chase Redick and A Montoya. A football game and several musical entertainments are planned.

Mrs James L Wells Injured In Auto Accident

Mrs James L Wells county superintendent of schools suffered a severe injury when her car overturned five miles north of Anitas. She was trapped under the vehicle for about two and a half hours before being found. She sustained a fractured collar bone and other bruises but was reported not to be in serious condition at De Moss hospital.
