J O Phillips a district pioneer died in Lordsburg on Monday October 20 at 10 p m from heart trouble. He was 71 and had remained active until recently after moving from Noswell New Mexico in 1892 to Lordsburg and later to Douglas Clifton Duncan and back to Lordsburg where he stayed in business until death. Funeral services were held at Heather Chapel with Rev T A Phillips conducting and the Silver City Elks Lodge taking charge for the graveside rites at Mountain View Cemetery.
