Douglas Rodeo PTA Meeting Highlights Attendance Prize Plan

The Rodeo PTA gathered in Martin hall led by President Mrs. Lillie Darnell. Mrs Hollis Gregory and Mrs Lloyd Barnum spoke on PTA progress. The group proposed a small cash prize every six weeks for pupils with perfect attendance and members read articles on school work.

Lt Col Taggart Speaks at State Teachers Convention

Lt Col Thomas R Taggart a former Lordsburg attorney 1925 41 now assistant Staff Judge Advocate at Scott AFB Illinois will address the Social Science section at the State Teachers convention in Albuquerque on Thursday October 25 on military orders from the Office of Public Information Department of Defense. His topic is Freedom is Expensive.

PTA Meeting Moved to November Fifth

Lordsburg PTA president Mrs. Aubrey Stubbs announces the November meeting will be held Tuesday evening November 5 at 7 30. Parents Night will be observed with visits to classrooms and an invitation to all interested in the school or PTA activities. The date was moved from November 12 due to hunting season opening.

State Game Warden Elliott S. Barker urged sportsmen to ensure safety before shooting. Citing 1950 hunting fatalities and accidents, he noted a 1951 aim for accident-free hunting, highlighting a new law prohibiting careless firearm handling with penalties of ten-year hunting-privilege suspension for non fatal incidents and lifetime loss for fatalities.

Deming Wildcats Dominate Locals In Homecoming Shock

The Deming Wildcats defeated the Lordsburg Mavericks 26 to 6 on homecoming night. A calm cool evening drew the season’s largest crowd as Deming scored twice in each half and limited Lordsburg to a single late counter after a Deming fumble recovery near the 32 yard line. Luis Alvarez and Angel Chaires scored for Deming with a failed conversion.

The P T A Hallowe en Carnival King and Queen semi finals end with Central first grader Mrs Russell and Wilson pre first grader Mrs Traylor securing top spots. Rev J Godsoe New Pastor at Rodeo Church

Rodeo Baptist church selects Rev James Godsoe of Raton to lead the congregation. He and his family plan to move to Des Moines New Mexico and begin work around November first, occupying the parsonage at the church. The Godsoes include two daughters and a son.

Junior Rifle Club Formed Wed Night in Lordsburg

Ten boys met with the Senior Rifle club Wednesday evening to form a junior rifle unit in Lordsburg. Officers include Jimmy Powell president and Richard Breto secretary treasurer, with Orran Fairly as vice president and Richard Weldon as executive officer.
