Larry Nichols owner and contractor plans two phase loan with an 11 percent approximate rate and 20 year payback. Judy Nichols will co manage. seven of eight current workers hail from Lordsburg.

Chemical Spill Triggers Evacuations in Lordsburg

Early last Friday morning Lordsburg residents were evacuated after a leaking drum on a truck carrying hazardous chemicals caused a toxic spill. Fire and sheriff departments, with state police, coordinated evacuations east of the Piggy Bank Station while water and dry sand were used to control vapors.

Maynard To Conduct Seminar In Deming This Fall

Dr. Charles Maynard will lead a three day seminar at Mimbres Memorial Hospital Deming November 4 to 6 on chemical dependency and addiction treatment. Sessions run 6 to 10 PM in the Public Service Building with Robin Maynard SADD and AAA representatives, a $3 fee.

Victoria Homes Tentatively Sets Ribbon Cutting Date

Victoria Homes plans a November 9 ribbon cutting for its 45 000 square foot plant with 26 current employees and more hires expected as volume ramps up Carl Marino president said The firm will display four model homes across from the plant by November 1 and AARP will meet October 28 at 2 00 PM at Lordsburg Civic Center with members urged to attend. Ground breaking occurred June 22 this year.

Exploratory Drilling Halted For Lordsburg Water Needs

City of Lordsburg temporarily ends exploratory drilling after multiple attempts. Cody Drilling, then Larson Drilling, and later a northeast site near Shakespeare Cemetery produced minimal water, with the airport road site reaching 700 feet but yielding under 10 gallons per minute. Local officials seek 700 to 1000 gpm feasibility.

Optimist To Sponsor Halloween Carnival

The Lordsburg Optimist Club will host its Annual Halloween Carnival on Thursday October 31 at the Lordsburg Youth Center on Main Street from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. A Haunted House and Wheel of Fortune are planned with booths sold first come first served for $5 each. Booths must be self set up and reservations are through Don Kling at 542-3753 or 200 W. Third.
