Susan Gomez represents the Freshman Class and is the daughter of Robert and Geraldine Gomez of 1125 Hardin Street. She belongs to Future Homemakers of America and Student Council and is an active Freshman Class member. Her hobbies include swimming dancing and bike riding.
Buffy Hood is named Sophomore Homecoming Attendant. Daughter of Tommy Hood and Bonnie Duboca, she serves as Varsity Cheerleader and participates in Band Track and DECA as an active Sophomore Class member. In her free time she enjoys dancing reading and horse riding.
Rosario Lopez daughter of Yolanda Lopez at 405 West Sixth Street serves as captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad and secretary of the National Honor Society and Junior Class. She is active in Band Future Teachers of America Student Council Spanish Club and Track, with hobbies in piano dancing and reading.
Elizabeth Uresti of 800 Arnold Street is a senior at LHS. She serves as DECA President and Spanish Club Treasurer, is Flag Girl for the Mighty Maverick Marching Band, and participates in Student Council, National Honor Society, Future Teachers of America, and Future Homemakers of America. Her hobbies include reading and dancing.
Lisa Terrazas, a senior at LHS, is the secretary of the Senior Class and the Varsity Club. She serves in the National Honor Society, Future Homemakers of America, and participates in Volleyball, Basketball, Track, and is the flag girl for the Mighty Maverick Marching Band. She enjoys reading, dancing, sports, movies and swimming.
Mayor Clark Smith told the Lordsburg City Council on November 12 that water from the sewer plant being pumped to a nearby Dunagan property may force higher rates if rerouted. A 300000 gallon daily flow currently serves the Dunagan site, with costs rising to about 2000 monthly to move water to a pond near the airport. The council seeks a solution while noting potential uses of the water by nearby farmers and a possible state park lake. Meanwhile a large landfill scraper saved time on digging pits, and the city approved a $13949 patrol car purchase from Smith Ford.
A reception for local legislators will be held at the Special Events Center Friday Oct 21 at 2:30 P M. Marsha Hill says the Chamber of Commerce will host with County Commissioners City Council members and the Chamber board. Local business people are urged to attend and discuss economic development as the session opens with a price tag of 14449 dollars.
A free blood pressure check will be available every Thursday at the Hidalgo County Hospital Complex facility of the Gila Regional Home Health Agency from 8 A M to 12 Noon.
Missy Morelos, Hidalgo County Clerk, announces sample ballots are available with seven amendments four questions and regular candidate races. Voters are urged to study the sample ballot as state law allows 3 1/2 minutes in the voting booth.

The General Election ballot omits incumbent Sheriff Lloyd Payne after a post primary withdrawal. The Lordsburg Liberal notes the sample ballot excludes his name and seeks comment from Payne and Billy Darnell, slated to become sheriff, who were unavailable for response.
