Lodgers Tax Funds Sustain Lordsburg Events Center

Lordsburg city records show the Special Events Center bond payments are now fully funded by Lodgers Tax after prior surplus funds from the bond issue were exhausted. The Gross Receipts Lodgers Tax Revenue Bond supported the facility, with prior supplemental allocations no longer available.

Discipline Program Scheduled At Playas

Nationally known childrearing expert Lee Canter will present the Assertive Discipline Program at Playas Community Center on Monday night October 21 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sponsored by Animas School District and PTA, the free workshop covers steps to manage children at home and school. Red Ribbon Week Activities in Animas October Event Details

Animas schools and PTA plan a full Red Ribbon program October 19 to 26 with assemblies for K-12 on October 21. Officer Seifert and Detective McGruff will speak to students, with a Parents Assertive Discipline workshop led by Principal Haskell Sinclair at 7 p.m. at the Playas Community Center. Red Day on October 23 will see students in red and a Drug Free Poster Contest for elementary students. The week includes skits and other activities as ribbons are distributed to participants. Admission to the workshop is free and open to the public.

Red Ribbon Week Set For Central School Observance

Central School schedules Red Ribbon Week from October 18 to 25 with activities for students and staff. The week opens with an assembly and kickoff at Lordsburg Hot Springs game, a spirit chain for red wearers, and daily student projects including posters, banners, skits, and a parade culminating in class skits on Friday.

Parents and Teachers Meet for Conference Day at Local Schools

On Wednesday October 23 1991 Lordsburg High School and Dugan Tarango Middle School host a nonassigned conference day from 930 am to 1 pm and 230 pm to 6 pm. Parents are asked to call ahead to choose an hour and avoid the 5 00 to 6 00 pm slot. Report cards go home October 22 at DTM S office and LHS will provide them at the office during conference day.

Domenici Visits Lordsburg Urges Rural Health Aid and Grazing Fees

Senator Pete Domenici spent about four hours in Lordsburg as part of a 15 city tour over three days. He opposed raising grazing fees for ranchers and urged support for rural health care while acknowledging high costs and physician shortages. Local officials pressed for road paving and economic development, and Domenici backed free trade with Mexico.

Lordsburg Publishes Two Traffic Code Ordinances

The City of Lordsburg announces Ordinance 91-3 adopting the 1990 New Mexico Uniform Traffic Code by reference with penalty assessments and repeal of conflicting ordinances. Ordinance 91-4 amends sections of the same code. The full text appears on pages seven and eight.

Lordsburg Coupon Book Plan To Boost Local Sales

Mayor Salvador M. Diaz Jr proposes a Lordsburg coupon book printed by Liberal Printing to promote discounts for area merchants. Coupons would target Playas Road corridor communities in Animas Rodeo Cotton City Windmill and nearby towns, inviting residents to shop and dine in Lordsburg when the road opens. Call for input and timing to align with opening.
