At the Lordsburg Animas game on Friday October 14 1988 police from Lordsburg New Mexico State Police and Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department will conduct vehicle checks for alcoholic beverages. All vehicles and ice chests will be inspected. non compliance bars admittance to school property. Public school grounds ban alcohol under Municipal Ordinance 9-1-17.

Victoria Homes Property Changes Hands in Local Purchase

Adair Merrell of Animas and two Mesa Arizona investors acquire the Victoria Homes property with Ralph and Daniel Brown joining. Merrell says the site will be used for some manufacturing but will delay initiation by at least two months. The facility was originally built for modular home manufacturing and filed bankruptcy early in 1988.

Guzman Completes Paramedic Training

Arturo Guzman a 1981 Lordsburg High School graduate has completed schooling to become a nationally licensed Paramedic. Over seven months at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine he rotated through EMERGENCY ROOM trauma labor and delivery burns and ICU. He also worked in the field with the Albuquerque Ambulance Service.

Animas TV reception woes discussed by County Commission

Animas area residents and Davis brothers voiced frustration over ongoing TV reception problems. County Manager Tommy Anderson reported repairs to the translator occur about every ten days, with bills totaling 1300 dollars for August and September. Hidalgo County citizens may obtain flu vaccines on specified dates. Oct 13 at Dunagan's Bakery in Animal from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Oct 19 at the Community Center in Rodeo from 9 am to 12 noon. Oct 19 at Lordsburg Health Office in Hidalgo Medical Complex from 1 pm to 4 pm. Oct 20 at Lordsburg Senior Citizens Center from 9 am to 2 pm. Individuals 18 or younger require a doctor's order.

North Street water line replacement underway in city corner

The city has begun a water line replacement and paving project on the last block of North Street using reserve funds to avoid cuts in future paving. New fittings valves and line will be installed off the street while the main line runs to the side. City crews and Southwest Transit Mix workers will operate in the area for weeks with traffic controls in place. Residents acknowledge temporary disruption for a longer term improved street and safety.
