Navy Helicopters Land on Local Field

Navy helicopters arrive at Lordsburg with two HTL-4 Bell choppers and a Beechcraft mother ship. Pilots Lt. McGlothin and Lt. Brock command the craft while J. T. Moody, R. Harrington, and H. Key provide medical support. The rotorcraft evacuate litter patients and rescue injured, a lifesaving Korean War frontline role.

Miller Accepts New Role With Santa Fe Motor Co

Bob Miller resigns as accountant at Miller Chevrolet to join Santa Fe Motor Co as chief accountant. He and his wife and son Ulric move to Santa Fe after residing in Lordsburg for about a year, where Miller was active in civic affairs and served as Lordsburg Elks member and El Paso Times correspondent.

State Police Check Brake Stickers and Licenses in Lordsburg

State officers led by Sgt. Jerry Brunk checked brake and light stickers, licenses, and more at a roadblock on Railroad Avenue in Lordsburg. Violations included 15 for no license and 8 for driving with no license in possession, with warnings tallying 150.

Charlie Beil In Las Cruces Hospital After Accident

Charlie Beil manager of the Copper Inn for Mrs. Madeline O Dell was seriously injured Monday about 8 00 p m while coming off an organ pass near Las Cruces. He was returning to Lordsburg from a Texas vacation and was taken to Memorial hospital by two soldiers. Mrs. O Dell reports Beil remains in serious condition and the crash is blamed on loss of car control while using the radio.

Rifle Range Shooting Sunday Morning at Lordsburg

Sunday morning at the Lordsburg Rifle Club range, weather permitting, for hunters to practice and sight rifles for the upcoming season. Open to current and prospective members, with a required course of fire to be completed this month. Traffic Light Trial Begins at Main and Railroad in Lordsburg

A temporary mechanical traffic cop device is set up at the Main Street and Railroad Avenue intersection in Lordsburg. Police Chief Lalo Sanchez says the unit will operate for a few days from 6:00 am to 12:00 am to test feasibility for future permanent lights at Railroad Avenue.
