Lordsburg high school football squad members gathered at Pythians Hall for a banquet hosted by Fathers of the men and community members. Night Guest Dies In Sleep At Hotel

A 70 year old man from San Antonio Texas identified as M Marx died in his sleep at a hotel on Saturday morning. He had registered Friday evening and was staying while visiting for business with the San Antonio Awning Co. Body sent to New Orleans for burial.

Local Girls Win Honors In Voice Contest

Truth or Consequences last Friday October 2 Connie a senior at Roger Brandt high school won the F H District Voice Contest competing against eleven girls from eight schools. She was unanimously chosen by audience and judges and will sing at the State F H A contest next spring. Her song was Kiss In The Dark.

Lordsburg and Deming finish tied in Homecoming tilt

Lordsburg and Deming played to a 13 to 13 tie before a Homecoming crowd as the Mavericks and Wildcats traded leads in a high spirited grid battle. Key moments featured a Deming interception return to the one yard line and a Ruiz six yard TD run as the hosts built an early lead before Deming rallied in the second half.

Rifle Range To Open Sunday

All members of the Lordsburg Rifle Club are urged to be at the range Sunday to participate in the qualifying shooting. The range will be open at 9 00 Sunday morning and remain open as long as there is anyone wishing to shoot.

Teen Age Canteen Set to Open Friday in Lordsburg

The Teenage Canteen in the Elks Lodge Room on East Second Street will open Friday at 7 P.M. It will run 7 to 11 P.M. with two adult chaperones, offering sandwiches, Cokes, hamburgers and hot dogs as the initial menu for local youths after movies or events.

Local Resident Injured In Car Crash Near Bowie Saf ford

Mrs Ralph Clifford and her daughter Marion were injured in a Wednesday afternoon crash on highway 666 near Bowie and Saf ford. Mrs Clifford blacked out from heat, the car left the road, struck a guard rail, rolled four times and landed upright. Marion suffered a brain concussion and bruises while Sally, in the back seat, was shocked but uninjured. Mrs Clifford has a neck injury and a dislocated thumb. They were hospitalized in Wilcox and released Saturday to recover at home. The 1950 Chevrolet four door sedan was a total loss.

Chorus Trip Brings Lordsburg Students to Las Cruces Clinic

Thirty two members of Lordsburg High School mixed chorus joined peers from fourteen New Mexico cities for a regional music clinic in Las Cruces. In total 463 students participated with Clayton Criebel from the University of Kansas directing the visiting program. Principal B. B. McAlister and music head Roger Brandt accompanied the group.

Homecoming Day for 1953 Mavericks Tie Crown Queen

Lordsburg high school marked a successful 1953 Homecoming with a pep rally, class floats, and a parade through Main Street. The Mavericks tied the Deming Wildcats in the football game, while Miss Argie Hoskens was crowned Homecoming queen amid festivities.

Lordsburg Pioneer Dies at 70 in New Mexico

Lonza Allen Bradberry born July 21 1883 in Mason Texas was the eldest son of Allen and Amanda Bradberry. He moved with his family to Fairview New Mexico as a teen, later to Bedrock New Mexico where he married Edith Brakefield on February 14 1905. They had 11 children with several surviving members listed in Lordsburg. The family moved to Lordsburg in 1915 where he and his brother Levi ranched in the Burro Mountains and he served Hidalgo County Assessor for two terms.
