Lordsburg Board rejects athletic release amid CBA vote
The Lordsburg Board of Education denied a student athletic release to compete in Animas sports, voting 4-1 despite extenuating circumstances. The decision followed input from administrators who warned against setting a dangerous precedent. TAL was also elected as the licensed staff union by 73 percent of 63 voters.

Clara Noling 89 dies at Gila Regional in Silver City
Clara Etta Stockman Noling 89, of Lordsburg, died Thursday at Gila Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Born January 29, 1904, on the Gila River south of Riverside, Grant County, she was the eldest child of Ira D. Stockman and Florence Nichols. The family moved to Grant County in 1900 and Tyrone later, where her father served as deputy Sheriff. Her father died in 1916, and at age 12 she worked as a waitress to help her mother. She later moved to Silver City and became a practical nurse, with more story continuing on Page 2.
