Lordsburg School Board hears State Department of Education accreditation visit noting no problems yet calls for written curriculum plans and safer chemical storage. Alfonso Delgado 51 of Lordsburg died September 30 at Ft. Bayard Medical Center with services at Bacas Heather and St. Josephs Church. He was Air Force veteran born September 3, 1937. Survivors include his mother, siblings. Funeral arrangements by Bacas Heather.

County Receives Federal Payments for Tax-Exempt Lands

Hidalgo County will receive 247 456 dollars from the Federal Government under the Payments in Lieu of Taxes Act of 1976, announced by Interior Secretary Don Hodel. New Mexico and 32 counties share 10.5 million dollars. Funds go to local governments and may be used for any purpose. Hidalgo will place the money in its General Fund this fiscal year.

Victoria Homes sale in Lordsburg under bankruptcy plan

Harley Swink says a signed purchase agreement for the Victoria Homes site in Lordsburg awaits filing in Albuquerque to become privileged and for details to be released. 20 days allowed for paper filing. land bought from the City of Lordsburg at $500 per acre for 20 acres with three year payment deferral. Deed unchanged at Hidalgo County Courthouse. Sandia Savings recorded it. City provided a $500,000 grant to be repaid and loaned to others. company failed in early 1988.

Lordsburg PD Receives $8000 Federal Grant for Motorcycle Patrol

New Mexico's Highway Department reports Lordsburg Police Department is awarded an $8000 federal fund grant to buy a police motorcycle. The city must provide at least $4000 in kind matched funding and maintain patrols to reduce traffic accidents. An activity report and weekly forty hour patrols with citations will be filed for review.

Jack W. Martin Dies at 66 in Albuquerque NM

Jack W. Martin of Animas NM died Sunday September 25 at St. Josephs Hospital in Albuquerque. He was 66, survived by his wife Katherine, daughter Judith Bohannan, sister Wilma Hobbs and five brothers, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He taught in Animas and was Cimarron School principal 1971 to 1975. Funeral 2:00 PM Wednesday at Cimarron Methodist Church with Rev. Kent Martin. Arrangements by Errington Memorial Chapel.
