Lordsburg Council Accepts Joint Powers Plan for Recreation Funds

Lordsburg officials approved a joint powers agreement with Hidalgo County to receive about 26000 in federal revenue sharing for park and recreation projects including two tennis courts. A city committee will prioritize projects while using city crews to stretch funds.

Lordsburg Municipal School Board will hold a regular meeting Monday October 6 at 7 p.m. in the superintendent's office. The meeting is open to the public.

Post Office launches nationwide Consumer Service Program

Postmaster A. E. Elicio announced a new Consumer Service Program to improve mail service quality. Beginning Oct 1 1975, the Lordsburg Post Office and others will use a consumer service card to identify and resolve complaints quickly. The card goes to the station and to Washington for analysis. Customers are urged to report issues such as courtesy, delivery irregularities, and post office hours.

Carnegie Demonstration Planned For October 6

Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Dale Carnegie Course in speaking leadership and human relations for Lordsburg residents. A free orientation will be held. instructor is Fred Means of Las Cruces, trained with John McGrath, a Dale Carnegie associate.

Bicentennial Committee Plans Publicity as Lordsburg Is Named City

The Bicentennial Committee met Thursday evening September 25 led by Joe Orona with Espie Eaton Fay Powell Loyce Webb Ena Mitch ell Ima Fairly and Frances Weckworth. They gathered ideas for entertainment and discussed a publicity campaign. Lordsburg is designated a Bicentennial City with state funds matched by the city.

The Animas Board of Education will hold a regular meeting on Thursday October 9 1975 at 8 30 in the school library. The public is invited to attend.

The Lordsburg Liberal announces a special Bicentennial edition in late February to celebrate Hidalgo County history. Clubs organizations governments and individuals are invited to submit historical items and old Hidalgo pictures will be returned promptly.
