Mississippi Family Impromptu Arrest Leads to Roundup Scene

A Laurel Mississippi family returning from California was stopped by a state officer near Lordsburg. The Fuller family including 3 year old John Robert was escorted to a chamber of commerce office for checks after a report of a stolen car resembled theirs. They were then invited to stay with local hosts at the Siesta Cafe as the episode unfolded.

Notice to Antelope Hunters in Area 2

Hunters with antelope permits for Area 2 should check in at Separ Station forty miles west of Deming or twenty miles east of Lordsburg on highways 70 and 80. Some hunters may later check in at Cow Spring Ranch northwest of Gage. The hunt season continues.

Lonza Bradberry Dies of Heart Attack in Lordsburgh

Lonza Allen Bradberry, a prominent Lordsburgh resident since 1900, died at his home on Eight Street Wednesday night at 10:15 from a heart attack. He was 70. Funeral services are set for Friday at 10:00 AM at Heather Chapel. He was a member of the L D S Church. Further details will be published next week.

Wesley Freeburg Leads New Mexico Education Conference

In Las Cruces on September 19 a Leaders Conference gathered about seventy five Lordsburg and Hidalgo County teachers. Wesley Freeburg, president of the South western New Mexico Education Association and Lordsburg schools superintendent, opened with aims to broaden member access to state and national education work. Visiting speakers from Santa Fe included Travis Stovall, William O'Donnell, Charles Wood, and Floyd Santistew n of the Retirement Board.

Troop 120 Boy Scouts Hold Court Of Honor

Troop 120, Boy Scouts of America, held a potluck supper and a Court of Honor at a Methodist Church basement last Thursday. Menu featured spaghetti and meatballs. Scout Master K. C. Hollemon presented a year’s membership advances and outlined a need for an explorer post. Advancements were awarded to Raymond Probert, Denny Bryant, Eddie Brown, Arthur Richards, James Baxter, and others for first aid, citizenship, swimming, wildlife management, and related skills.

New Time Schedules For Southern Pacific Passenger Trains

Southern Pacific Railroad announces changes in passenger train service for Lordsburg beginning Sunday September 27 1953. Train No 43 westbound departs El Paso at 5 30 A M and arrives Lordsburg at 8 55 A M. No 6 eastbound arrives Lordsburg at 4 10 P M and leaves at 4 20 P M.
