A 25 minute animated musical about the Nativity titled Night The Animals Talked will be shown at Lordsburg Public Library on Saturday morning December 8 at 10 AM. Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne wrote the score. The story, told through animals in the stable, dramatizes themes of prejudice in child friendly terms and invites both parents and children.
Sherry Bales, a former police coordinator, files a $500,000 suit in Sixth District Court against Lordsburg, alleging wrongful firing after she testified in a bribery case involving two city policemen in late 1978. She accuses Mayor Alan Koff and city officials of due process denial and seeks punitive damages, attorney fees, and costs.
The Sixth District Attorney’s Office says a car involved in a high speed chase ending in Lordsburg may belong to Louis S. Wong of Mentor Lake Ohio. Police report the occupant fired at officers near Deming and at a roadblock, then crashed and died from a self inflicted head wound after the chase moved to Lordsburg.
