Farm City Week Observed Nationwide In NM Nov 21 27

National Farm City Week runs November 21 to 27 highlighting farm and city interdependence. Dr Gob Gilliland of New Mexico State University leads NM celebrations urging cooperation among rural and urban sectors to meet future challenges. Last year U S consumers spent 312 billion on farm produced foods and averaged 152 pounds beef and pork, 67 pounds poultry, 81 pounds fruit, 48 pounds processed fruit, 101 pounds vegetables, 310 pounds dairy and 75 pounds potatoes.

Rev Glenn Accepts Pastorate at Lordsburg Church

The First Baptist Church of Lordsburg announces that Rev Byron P Glenn has accepted the pastorate effective November 10 1986. He and his wife Sharlee have two children Seth and Emily. The Glenns were raised in Oklahoma and met at Oklahoma Baptist University. He graduated from OBU in 1978 and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 1982. He has worked with youth and pastoral ministries in North Dakota and overseas. The family enjoys southwestern New Mexico and looks forward to serving the Lordsburg community.

Traffic Fatalities and October Crashes Reported by DOT

The Transportation Department Traffic Safety Bureau released October fatal crash data and year to date totals. October saw 33 fatal crashes causing 42 deaths, with year to date totals at 368 crashes and 427 fatalities. Occupant restraint use and helmet use were variably reported among fatally injured, with alcohol involvement at 62 percent.

Christmas Tree Permits On Sale At Forest Ranger Stations

Christmas tree permits for personal use are available from forest ranger stations excluding the Gila Visitor Center. Permits cost 5 dollars per tree, with a limit of one per household, on sale since November 3 through Christmas Eve. Purchasers receive a map and regulations, and are urged to check road and weather updates before cutting. Bright clothing recommended for safety.
