The high school football queen for 1947 was chosen by the boys of the football squad. Josephine Basia won the majority and was crowned during halftime at the Anthony game. Carlos Hernandez officiated the coronation. Attendant list includes Mabel.

Local Lions Assist Bowie's New Club Start
Four Lions Club members traveled to Bowie Arizona to help hold the town's newly organized club’s first meeting. Lions Club members also held tickets for 33 local football players and coaches to attend the Sun Bowl in El Paso on New Year’s Day.

Enchilada Supper to be Held at Methodist Church

Harold Taylor Sets Scoring Mark In Local Football
Harold Taylor of the local high school scored 128 points this season placing him among the state's top scorers. He earned 21 touchdowns and 2 extra points, adding 16 points in last Friday's L S Anthony game with three touchdowns. Gilbert Mora kicked two extra points and Mike Gutierrez added another touchdown in that contest while L S H S relied on air plays from End Rios and Haynes for two touchdowns.

Pythian Sisters Host Box Supper and Bunco Night
The Pythian Sisters and Knights and friends held a box supper and bunco party Monday at 7:30. Ladies prepared boxes, a Red Cross film by C. R. Towne showcased disaster relief work, and prizes went to Mrs. Haltom, Mrs. Fuller, Homer Brooks, and Pete Smith.
