Diaz Hidalgo goat raiser ships six Angora bucks to Stillwell

Tom Reid of Hidalgo County sends six registered Angora billy goats by express to Stillwell Oklahoma in covered boxes. This is his first express shipment. Buyers typically pick up goats by truck. three goats sold for $100 with express charges paid by the buyer.

Bridal Shower Honors Mrs. Wood in Home of Mrs. Wright

Mrs. B C Wood formerly Lula Johnson was honored with a bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Edmund Wright. Hostesses Mrs Wright and Mrs Chandler Hill presided as gifts arrived from guests including Malcolm and Arabella Hill with a bridal wagon and rice shower. Refreshments of cakes tea and coffee were served to a large gathering of relatives and friends.

Stolen Car Recovered In Las Cruces

Claude Speer reported his car stolen from his home Saturday afternoon while his family was inside. Captain Salas of the New Mexico State Police traced the vehicle to a Las Cruces garage and captured the thief, John Edwards, who is confined at Sheriff Oscar Allen's inn. Edwards confessed and awaits sentencing by Judge A W Marshall.

Womans Society of Christian Service Meets at Ful ler Home

The Womans Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church met at Mrs. Charles Fuller’s home last Friday. The next meeting is set for December 5 at Mrs. A. L. Green’s home with co-hostesses Mrs. W. C. Mearns and Mrs. Richard Lewis. Mrs. G. P. Jeffus will lead devotionals and officers will be elected with full annual reports to be presented.

Missionary Rev Holden Draws Fine Audience In Garagoa

Interdenominational missionary Rev J C Holden spoke at a Garagoa Methodist church lecture drawing a large attentive crowd. He recounted his life, anti violence encounters including bombs targeting his family, and noted support from Protestant churches. His companion Florentino Romero shared his testimony in Spanish, translated for locals before the pair departed for Pecos Texas for another engagement.

Tall Red Head Flo Skovald Visits Lordsburg

Hollywood actress Flo Skovald known as Kay Vallon, six feet four inches tall and former Superior Wisconsin basketball star, visited Lordsburg with Miss Grace Lynn of Chicago. She played piano at the Hidalgo Hotel and accompanied Lynn, a Chicago radio and stage singer.

Co P 8 Co Gets Checkup at Lordsburg Plant

The Community Public Service Company's Lordsburg plant underwent a turbine and boiler inspection after twenty two months of continuous operation. Chief Engineer Roy Kundts Marvin Fuller Silver City manager Donald Johnson and local manager oversaw the checkup. Mrs S M Chase Misses Nancy Chase and Ima Fairly were in El Paso Friday with Marjorie Fairly returning home.

Tragic U.S. 70 crash linked to parked pickup scene

An auto collision 21 miles out on U.S. Highway 70 killed Otis Heath and damaged multiple vehicles. Edward C. Dutton escaped with minor injuries along with Lawrence Heath and Miss Mae Schwartz. Carmichael magnate Dave Fleischer suffered internal injuries and broken ribs, with his secretary unhurt. Heath's death followed at Lordsburg Hospital. Mrs Heath remains hospitalized in New Mexico.

Body of Otis Heath Leaves Today for New Jersey

The body of Otis Heath who died in a tragic auto wreck is to be sent to his home in New Jersey today. Heath’s mother arrived by bus and Mrs. Heath’s mother flew to El Paso and took the noon train. Heather Mortuary prepared the body for shipment as plans proceed for departure today.

The New Mexico Reclamation Association is formed with officers Captain W C Reid president N B Phillips first vice president Ernest J Welgh treasurer and William Smith secretary manager. Directors named for six districts with a constitution to promote irrigation drainage flood control and land and water conservation and to cooperate with the National Reclamation Association. Mr and Mrs James T Wells of Cananea traveled Wednesday with Olivia Wells and Margaret Mercer to El Paso for Thanksgiving with Mrs Wells family. They dined at Hotel Cortez. In El Paso and Juarez the party spent Friday. Saturday Robert Miller and Ann Robin were married at First Presbyterian El Paso followed by a six o clock dinner at the groom's home. Miss Robin taught in Las Cruces schools.

Chase family travels to Long Beach for ill daughter

Mr and Mrs S M Chase left by motor Wednesday morning for Long Beach California to attend the illness of their daughter Mrs Dorothy Lister who is reported very ill. Mrs Robert Williams visited Mr Williams and later went to Silver City to visit her mother Mrs Maude Gay.

Lion Governor Watts Honored Guest at Lions Banquet

A Lions Club banquet in Lordsburg gathered Lions from surrounding towns with Governor Watts as honor guest. President Melvin Jones of Chicago inspired the gathering while Scofield moderated the program and Watts urged loyalty to American institutions amid defense era. A post-dinner dance followed with local and visiting Lions and their guests enjoying music by Arlie Vanderbilt and a large social turnout.
