Wesley Freeburg Injured Hunting at Ranch

Wesley Freeburg superintendent of Lordsburg Municipal schools was thrown from his horse while hunting on the Joe Rouse ranch. He is confined to his home with strained ligaments but expects to return to duties within a few days.

District P. T. A. Meeting Set for Lordsburg

The State P. T. A. conference in Silver City decided Lordsburg will host the District meeting early next fall. The district covers Hidalgo Grant and Catron counties. A training school for P. T. A. workers was proposed.

Episcopal Guild To Sponsor Silver Tea Event

The St. Paul’s Episcopal Guild will host an antique exhibit and silver tea at the Woman’s Club on Sunday afternoon December 5 from 2 to 6. Funds raised support the church building fund. Antiques exhibitors should contact Mrs Betty Smith, chairman, by calling 86. The public is invited.

The November meeting of the Business and Professional Women's club was led by the International Relations committee under Mrs. Lola Freeburg with assistants Raye Powell Olivia Wells and Pansy Stubbs. A covered dish luncheon preceded talks by Racene Ashton district president of the P T Association from Silver City on legislation and by Strackbein a NMST College teacher who recently returned from four years in Washington. The next gathering is the Christmas party on December 9.

Lions Club Hosts Ladies Night Dinner in Lordsburg

The Lordsburg Lions Club will host their wives for a Ladies Night at the Woman's Club on Thursday night December 2. The Methodist ladies will serve a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings and an after dinner speaker will be invited to entertain. Members without reservations should contact the club president.

Freeburg Re elected Scout Chairman in Hidalgo District

Wesley Freeburg Supt of Schools was reelected chairman of the Hidalgo District Yucca Council Boy Scouts at the District Committee meeting Monday evening November 22 at Lordsburg High School. His son Bernard is an Eagle Scout. Julian Allen was named Vice Chairman for another year and Rev Paul Hively District Commissioner for 1949.

Miss Virginia Kellogg of Beverly Hills staff writer for Warner Films visited Lordsburg on Tuesday. She gathered helpful historical notes from Emma Muir R. B. Owensby D. S. Pen and Pete Kerr for a fiction set in Lordsburg to be finished in about a year.
