Farmers in New Mexico will participate in a nationwide agricultural survey conducted by the USDA Crop and Livestock Reporting Service in late November and early December. Governor Jack M Campbell of New Mexico issues a proclamation declaring Alcoholism Information Week from November 27. He notes alcoholism as a major health threat ranking with cancer mental illness and heart disease, affecting about 6.5 million Americans. Privates Antonio F. Alvarez and Ramon M. Mejia completed a field communication crewman course at Ft Huachuca Arizona on November 18. Taxpayers Association to Sponsor Silver City Conference

The Taxpayers Association of New Mexico will sponsor a regional conference in Silver City on November 30 addressing state county and school financing for Catron Grant Hidalgo and Luna counties. Kangaroo Rat Control Project Ends in New Mexico

Las Cruces Bureau of Land Management reports completion of Kangaroo Rat control across about 96 000 acres between Lordsburg and Bedrock at a cost of 6500 dollars. The effort, a joint plan with the Bureau of Sports Fisheries and Wildlife, ran on several ranches under Elton B Potter.

Damages Awarded In McCauley Suit In Grant County

Frank McCauley, a Grant County rancher, won 470000 in compensatory damages from Charles Ray and Brock Cattle Co. for a shooting near Lordsburg on August 9 1985. Ray faced a prior hung jury in a related criminal case. punitive damages were denied.

California Woman Dies Of Crash Injuries

Jeanette Elizabeth Clinton, 49, of Nestor California, died at Hidalgo General Hospital from injuries after her MG was hit on Interstate 10 by a truck driven by Clyde Louis McCullough of Brownsville Texas. She had parked on the shoulder to nap when struck. the truck left the road and stopped after crossing a fence. The accident occurred 154 miles west of Lordsburg at 4 45 am on November 16. McCullough was cited for illegal changing of lanes and paid the fine.
