County Treasurer June Dunagan reports that Southern Pacific Company Local Freight Agent F E Johnson paid 33 055 11 into the county treasury as the first half of Hidalgo County 1955 railroad taxes. The railroad owes 67 910 20 in county taxes this year, the largest taxpayer. Of that total 15 071 04 funds county agencies 32 658 68 supports schools 811 18 goes to Lordsburg and 19 369 30 remains for state.

Accident Victim Mary Lou Woodson Dies After Crash
Mary Lou Woodson, a passenger in a car driven by Katherine Colbert, died from injuries sustained when the vehicle overturned on Highway 80 on November 16. She passed away Thursday at Hidalgo County Hospital. The body was shipped to Houston, Texas, on Sunday for burial.

Civil Air Patrol Turns 14 in U S Day
December 1 marks the 14th anniversary of the Civil Air Patrol in the United States dating to December 1 1941. Lordsburg and Animas squadrons are among the state’s youngest yet active with eleven missions between them and 35 senior members and 24 cadets in Lordsburg.
