Members are chosen for scholarship practicality and social ability. The national secretary of Sigma Tau noted hopes Mu Phi Pi becomes a Sigma Tau chapter before year end.

Judge B B Ownby and his wife Mrs Anna Ownby marked their 68th wedding anniversary at home with guests. The couple, long respected Lordsburg residents since 1881, married in Bakersfield in 1880 and helped build the community. he served as Hidalgo County probate judge and mayor of Lordsburg, among other roles.

District Governor Jack Sheehan and his daughter visited Monday en route to Morenci for the installation of the joint Morenci Clifton Rotary Club. Mrs. June Clegg longtime Hidalgo Coffee Shop employee married Earl Wolf Roswell stockman and cattle buyer in Las Cruces on Wednesday. Wolf recently visited here and purchased cattle. The couple’s plans are not disclosed.

Lordsburg Woman's Club afternoon program featured Dr N D Frazin of Silver City speaking on Socialized Medicine as practiced abroad. He argued the US leads in medicine, urged state legislators to consider hospitalization funding for the indigent, and outlined county health finance. A Wilke executive secretary of the FE Paso County Board of Development visited Lordsburg on Tuesday and took more than a dozen pictures of local spots for future publication in the El Paso Times. Mrs Elizabeth Winters, president of the Lordsburg Women's Club, chauffeured him around the city. He used a German camera renowned for many contest awards. Many pictures in the El Paso Times Sunday edition were taken by this camera.

Intviet Court for Widalwe county opens its regular jury term in Lordebarge Monday with several criminal cases. Judge George W. Hay, recently ill, is expected to preside. Mavericks opened with a first quarter TD on a pass from Saucedo to Cureton. final score came on a Sanchez to Guaman pass. Both extra points failed.
