Ob ers Honored for Service in Lordsburg and Local Updates

Albert Carter presided at Ground Observers Tuesday in Tucson and awarded wings to those who served. Lordsburg Girl Injured in Saturday Car Wreck

Barbara Ann Hulsey sixteen was injured in a two car collision at Bear Mule Creek while on a hunting trip. She was taken by Cox Mortuary ambulance to Hillcrest Hospital in Silver City where her condition was listed as fair. The accident involved Leon Evans of Lordsburg driving a car that skidded into one driven by Mrs. Robert Evans Leon's mother.

Allen Sentenced On Guilty Plea

James E. Allen pled guilty in District Court to discharging a firearm within Lordsburg city limits. The August 18 shooting injured Ambrosio Perez, a farm worker near Cotton City, who is recovering with a cane. The judge ordered costs and medical bills paid, reimbursement for lost wages, no firearms for a year, and lawful conduct. further sentencing reserved pending compliance.

The Lordsburg Band Parents auction sale starts at 7 p m Saturday November 23 in the Central School gym. Bids are from the floor on usable donated items including lamps and household pieces ready for use.

A community thanksgiving service will be held at the Baptist Church at 9 30 Thursday morning Nov 28. Rev E L Anson will be the preacher with other city ministers leading responses prayers and readings. All are invited to join in this united observance honoring the Pilgrim Fathers tradition.

Law and Order Panel Discussion in Lordsburg

A Lordsburg Law and Order panel followed a PTA meeting at Central School gym led by Mrs. Allen Hill. Panelists included Judge A W Marshall District Attorney Norman Hodges Judge C L Brown Mayor B M Kimbley Sheriff Ed Jackson State Police representative Joe Rutland Chief Lalo Sanchez Pete Chase and school board member Mrs Cassie Martinez and Mrs Mertice Stooks. Paul Probert moderated as officers gave informative talks with Q A. The final discussion will resume in January.

Mrs. Mertice Brook installs Sharon Dunkerson as Royal Princess of the Pythian Sunshine Girls at KP Hall. Dunkerson wears aqua nylon net and tulle, with white mums corsage and chrysanthemum bouquet. Lordsburg Student Wins In District Painting Contest

Lordsburg High School student Nancy Pat Godfrey won first and second places in a district painting contest held in Albuquerque. Judges revealed winners after numbering and concealing names. Las Cruces took third. a $400 scholarship awaits the spring showing winner.

Judge Marshall Suffers Heart Attack During Public Panel

Sixth Judicial District Judge W. Marshall suffered a heart attack Monday night while moderating a Law and Order panel at Central School gym Lordsburg. He was rushed to Hidalgo County Hospital in critical condition, then discharged Wednesday to recover at home in Deming.
