H B Titcomb president of Southern Pacific Rail road Company of Mexico reports strong progress on the Tepic to La Quemada extension and related Mexico west coast lines. Freight rose to 12 603 carloads in the year ended Sept 4 1923 with plans for 12 locomotives and 7 steel box cars for 1924 and 3000 workers and 1000 mules to push 103 miles toward completion by Jan 1 1925.

Music and Cooperation Highlight P T Association Meeting

The P T Association opened with a fine session led by the president and secretary. Prof Bonham spoke on music in public schools outlining its aesthetic and future life benefits, followed by student songs and solos. Mrs Barnwell and June closed with a piano solo, Rev Vanderpool urged anti cancer efforts, and Mrs Wells read excerpts from headquarters bulletins. The superintendent promised a resumed address next week.

Man Traverses 131 Miles With Broken Leg

Richard Graves of the 4 ranch 61 miles north of Clifton rode 131 miles home after a fall left him with a badly broken leg. He reached De Moss hospital by horse and car, and an X-ray showed an operation is needed to set the fracture.

Yuma Auto Camp Man Praises Our Camp

J Meyers proprietor of the private autoists camp at Fort Yuma visited Lordsburg and praised Lordsburg free camp grounds as the best between Yuma and Lordsburg including Phoenix. He reported travel times from Yuma to Casa Grande and Douglas and recommended Bank Head as the best tourist route. He added I always tell the tourists the route I would drive myself.

Bad Man Captured Near Separ After Stabbing Incident

Allen and Constable Harry McKeel arrested a suspect at Separ on Tuesday evening after a Mexican laborer was stabbed. Dr. DeMoss found the victim near death and rushed him to Lordsburg then El Paso for urgent care. The Dodge vehicle aided the return trip before switching to a Ford.

Mormon Notables Visit Lordsburg

A group of Mormon notables led by Dr. Richard R. Lyman visited Lordsburg after laying the Mesa temple cornerstone. The party, traveling from Mesa to El Paso, included President and Mrs. Andrew Kimball and other church officers. Dr. Lyman is a Utah University civil engineering professor.

Lee Highway Duly Honored At San Diego

Dedication of the Pacific Zero Milestone of the Lee National Highway in San Diego marks the opening of a transcontinental route from New York to the Pacific coast. President Harding previously dedicated the eastern milestone in Washington and would have joined the western ceremony before his death. The route passes through major cities and states, with a grand crossing of the Colorado River into California and culminating in San Diego with a presidentially inaugurated ceremony led by Golda Vietcher.

No District Court For November Term

Judge Haymond W Ryan announced there would be no jury called for the November term as important cases had been disposed of out of court, saving county expense. District Attorney Forrest Fielder traveled from Deming but found nothing to do and returned.
