Not Guilty Verdict In Lordsburg Change of Venue Trial

H. Koehl, former state motor vehicle commissioner, acquitted by jury in Lordsburg on charges of accessory after the fact and perjury related to the Albuquerque treasure office robbery. Trial presided by Judge Carl P. Danifon. venue moved from the Sixth District. Prosecution by Attorney General M. A. Otero. defense by W. K. Wood and George A. Craig. Jury total twelve, verdict reached after late morning session. Koehl expressed gratification at complete vindication.

Southern Air Transport reps misroute to Silver City

Southern Air Transport representatives Bert Slater chief engineer a Mr Ornack construction foreman and a Mr Hazelton architect visited Lordsburg this week. They planned to go to Silver City Thursday but left on the Danan highway reaching Danean before correcting course. They returned to Lordsburg and started anew. It is hoped they reached Silver City safely. there is also a Lordsburg Agua Prieta route.

Ownbys celebrate golden wedding in Lordsburg

Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Ownby of Lordsburg marked fifty years of marriage on November 18 1880 with a surprise celebration at their home. Neighbors and friends hosted a dinner and presented gold coins and gifts. The couple started life in Bakersfield California and moved to Lordsburg where Ownby served as militia member constable deputy sheriff county commissioner and mayor. Mrs Ownby and family members attended, and a poem by Mrs. Ownby honored their half century together.

After a mild spell, Lordsburg saw the first winter cold snap with a light snow Saturday night. Sunday and Monday were cool and clear, while Tuesday brought rain sleet and snow making it an unusually disagreeable day for the visiting court guests.

The infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Paineworth fell into a ditch near Virden last Wednesday and drowned. Mrs. Margaret Barron of Lordsburg, injured in a street accident in Los Angeles several months ago, is pronounced out of danger by doctors. She can sit up daily and hopes to be discharged soon. Alleged bank robbers caught in Silver City

Silver City officers and city police arrested six suspects Sunday at 12:30 in a Silver City pool hall following a bank robbery in Eldorado Arkansas. The group reportedly escaped with about 1500 dollars. a 14 year old sister and another woman were taken into custody. Authorities identified J. Kerns as leader with ties to Fort Bayard veterans hospital.
