Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Ownby of Lordsburg marked fifty years of marriage on November 18 1880 with a surprise celebration at their home. Neighbors and friends hosted a dinner and presented gold coins and gifts. The couple started life in Bakersfield California and moved to Lordsburg where Ownby served as militia member constable deputy sheriff county commissioner and mayor.
