Chamber of Commerce Elects New Directors in Hidalgo-Lordsburg
The Hidalgo Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce elected George Amin Leo Cohen Frank Bowman and Jack Morgan to the board. Bowman and Morgan were re elected while Amin and Cohen were newly chosen. Ballots totaled 62 of 102 sent. officers for 1960 to be chosen December 14 along with secretary-manager hiring. The chamber will sponsor a home Christmas lighting contest with rules and prizes to be announced.

John Atkinson Shot During Hunting Trip Accident
John Atkinson an 18 year old high school senior was accidentally shot in the left hip on a deer hunting trip on the Peloncilla mountains ranch of Mrs May Atkinson south of Lordsburg. His brothers Richard and Russell and Fred Pryor were present. The pistol discharged when it hit the ground and he was treated at Hidalgo County Hospital where doctors said his condition was not serious.

Two Local Youths Held In Rich's Safe Burglary
Two youths are in custody after a break-in at Rich's Motor Co. early Sunday. Reynaldo Perea, 19, faces breaking and entering with intent to commit grand larceny. Billy Flores, 16, will face a similar juvenile charge. The burglary occurred between 3 30 and 4 a m, a safe was removed and taken to a car, funds and papers were looted and later burned. Police and the sheriff traced a car using tire impressions, leading to arrests. Jesus Flores Jr. faced separate charges for marijuana and liquor to minors, with Billy Flores previously committed to the State Boys School at Springer.
