Combined Effort Drug Bust Nets 900 Pounds In Hidalgo County
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lloyd Payne and the U S Border Patrol report a weekend operation yielding about 900 pounds of marijuana. Two seizures occurred on New Mexico Highway 81 south of Hachita, one 5 45 AM Friday with 185 pounds valued at 148000 dollars, the other 11 00 PM the same day with 715 pounds valued at 572000 dollars. Suspects were Mexican nationals. Payne plans vehicle forfeiture to aid border protection.

California Man Missing Amid Desert Search Mystery
The Hidalgo County Sheriff reports David Stone vanished while en route from San Diego to El Paso for a friend's wedding. His unoccupied car was found Nov 1 along U S 80 near Lordsburg and search efforts, aided by bloodhounds, aircraft, and psychics, have not located him. The case remains unresolved with leads sparse and calls for information ongoing.
