A Marketing Economics Institute report shows Hidalgo County households increasingly move into higher income ranges as more married women work and living costs rise. It cites 62.7 percent earning $8,000 or more, with 12.0 percent in $8,000 to $10,000, 24.9 percent in $10,000 to $15,000, 17.0 percent in $15,000 to $25,000, and 8.8 percent above $25,000.

Local Deputies Probe Burglary and Larceny in County
Hidalgo County deputies investigate burglaries on November 9 and 11. A TV set was torn from a motel room and the renting party is suspected. The credit card used to rent the room was reportedly stolen from the San Francisco area. Another burglary at Willie Upshaw's bar on Pat Mountain east of Animas involved a window entry, with a cash register, whiskey, cigarettes and pickled eggs taken. Lordsburg Police report a busy week ending November 13 with one burglary, four larcenies, six vandalism reports, three noninjury accidents, eight bar calls, 34 public assistance calls, two false alarms and one arrest.

California man impersonates officer in Lordsburg arrest
Thomas Roosevelt Powell Jr., 38, of San Diego flashed a U S Marshall badge and wore a California Highway Patrol style uniform. He was arrested by Lordsburg police and charged with impersonating an officer, then sentenced to 30 days in Hidalgo County Jail after pleading guilty.

Tires Slashed in Lordsburg Suspected Teens Apprehended
Four more tires were slashed on a local car at KOA Rampground on Saturday November 12, bringing the week’s total to over 15. Tourists and the car owner aided officers who identified two juvenile suspects from a yearbook. A razor blade box opener was found, and the damage exceeds $1,000. Robert Gonzales fined $200 plus costs for failure to tag a deer by Judge John Scholl.
