The Department of Motor Vehicles announces mail order registration for 1967 plates and stickers. December 15 1966 starts display of 1967 validation. miscel l vehicles receive new plates. Mail order began 1964 and is urged for convenience. deadline for securing 1967 licenses is midnight February 2 1967.
The Elks Club asks successful hunters to donate deer hides for veterans leather work. Hides are sent to a tanner for processing and then given to the Veterans Hospital. Hides may be dropped at the C. P. S. Power Plant in Lordsburg with name and address provided for pickup.
The Liberal announces publication will occur on Wednesday next week with Thanksgiving on the following Thursday. The Liberal Office will close along with other business houses. Ads must be submitted by Tuesday noon and news by 5 p.m.
The Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at First Baptist Church with Mr. Don Davenport of the Church of Christ preaching. Ministers group invites all Christian congregations to attend at 10:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day November 24. A special offering supports the Community Van-sient Aid Fund administered by local church ministers.
Rev Earl Ball and First Methodist congregation members will attend the mid year District Conference at Tobin Park Methodist Church in northeast El Paso. Presiding is District Superintendent Dr Joe B Scrimshire with reports on foreign missions in Southeast Asia, starting new Churches and Schools, campus ministry in the El Paso Southwest, and preacher licensing. the district spans Silver City to Dell City to Van Horn with over 25 000 members.
First Lieutenant Michael F Rundle son of Mr and Mrs Loren F Rundle of Las Cruces has graduated from the U S Air Force F 4C Phantom II pilot course at Davis Monthan AFB Ariz He is assigned to Ramstein AB Germany joining the U S Air Forces in Europe NATO He is a Lordsburg High School and New Mexico State University ROTC graduate with a B S in electrical engineering His wife Judy is daughter of Mr and Mrs B B McAlister of Lordsburg.
Among the hunters who have bagged their deer this season are Manuel Gandara Don Weck worth Clyde Weenkerth Arturo Saucedo Dennis Estrada Benny Talavera Dora Gutierrez Ben Arambula Allan Hall and Jack Martinson. Mr and Mrs Fred S Duran of San Fernando Cal were in town to attend the funeral of their grandmother Mrs Julia P Sotelo.
Pre-entry examinations for Hotel Dieu School of Nursing will be held Saturday November 19 in El Paso for applicants from West Texas Southern New Mexico and Eastern Arizona. The 830 am to 3 pm test begins a seven month schedule for the next freshman class in September 1967.
Gilbert Buvens of the Kerr Agency attended the annual New Mexico Insurance Seminar held at the Holiday Inn in Albuquerque November 10 12. The event drew 251 agents and covered fire casualty and automobile insurance as part of a yearly review of industry conditions. He was accompanied by his wife Faye.
The Lordsburg Future Homemakers of America traveled to Anthony New Mexico on Saturday November 5 1966 for the 1966 67 District Meeting. Ste ven Pearce of Hobbs was sneaker award winner and was named district beautification chairman. Shirley Hitson was installed as District Secretary. attendees included Karen Newton Kate Turner Debbie Kirby Jeannie Stewart Helen Reed Gail Jones Emily Medina and many others.
At the Robert Swan Unit American Legion Auxiliary meeting the group voted to give 10 dollars to Ft. Bayard State Hospital for refreshments and 15 dollars to the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque for Christmas gifts. Mrs. Claude Fuller thanked members for the rummage sale success and plans for a Christmas party at the December meeting hosted by Mrs. Ena Mitchell.
