Reorganization plan proposes 14 state departments and eliminations

A blue ribbon reorganization committee urges creating 14 state departments headed by secretaries under the governor. It recommends abolishing many boards and moving duties to new departments including Commerce Finance Public Safety Health Welfare Land Resources and others. Some commissions would be retained or merged while a broad shift of public offices is proposed.

Fire Brought Under Control at Animas High School

About one o clock Thursday a fire was found in a shed behind the teachers' living quarters near Animas High School. Students formed a fire brigade and, though the shed was a total loss, prevented the flames from reaching the apartments.

Thanksgiving Service Planned at First Methodist Church

Army Specialist Five Ames R Caillouette 19 lives with wife Mary and parents in Animas New Mexico. He was assigned to Company A of the 43rd Engineer Battalion at Fort Benning Georgia on October 30. He had last served in Vietnam with the 103rd Engineer Company.

Controversy Over State Police Letter At City Council
