Victoria Homes opens in Lordsburg fueling Hidalgo County jobs
The formal opening Saturday November 9 marked Victoria Homes as officially open with a ribbon cutting by Mayor Steve Hill Senator Pete Domenici Governor Toney Anaya and Carl and Mrs Marino. Dr William Winter chaired the event announcing a modular home factory capable of one unit per day creating about 50 local jobs and a multi million dollar payroll, with plans for commercial and residential buildings across a four state marketing area. Never-ending support from officials and local business leaders was emphasized, highlighting federal state and local cooperation and a half million dollar revolving loan to spur further job creation and community growth. The ceremony ended with benediction and a barbecue and dance hosted by local venues and wineries.

Commission Sets EMS Pay Policy and Staffing Change
County Commission approved an overtime policy for the Emergency Medical Service Corps with a 14 day pay period and overtime after 106 hours. Board Hears Enrollment Report At Animal School Board
The Animal School Board met Tuesday November 12. Superintendent Richard Clifton reported Forty Day Student enrollment at 551 for grades 1-12, 37 below projection, reducing district funds by about 75000 dollars. He noted nine reform packages for the legislature but no funding. The state urged districts to cut spending and cited insurance costs.
