Rare Minerals group under State Supervisor and Industrial Education Engineers E. Fel and Samuel Strain run a teaching program in Dardchure to educate local people about mineral resources and mining methods.
Pauline Marquez, 27, was found strangled to death in her sister Mrs Juan Levario’s home on Saturday night. The body was discovered by her sister and the deceased’s own child after Pauline went to her sister’s bedroom to dress for a dance. The account notes she was alive moments earlier.
Fifty years ago Captain Sam Ransom discovered a mine known as the 65 mine named from the year of discovery. The mine was inoperative for a long period and was finally closed a few years ago, once a valuable Calumet property.
An upcoming annual cemetery meeting is set for Thursday at 7 30 pm at the home of Chas Johnson with all urged to attend. John D. Bingaman, commissioner of revenue, and his wife visited Friday to inspect the port of entry. He announced olive green uniforms for the staff including coats pants caps shirts and overcoats as part of a policy to present a fine appearance to the public. The note also praises Governor Clyde O. Neely for appointing Bingaman and cites a monthly increase in revenue with August marking the largest solar wine tax gain ever reported in New Mexico.
Frank Meyer and I B Gants deputy collector of Internal Revenue were over from Lon Cruces Wednesday.
Mr and Mrs Stewart Robeson from Bafford visited Saturday afternoon and stayed with friends until evening before departing for Las Cruces to visit the former’s mother.
U S Bureau of Public Roads engineers with Rhode Island authorities found 16 percent of trucks and 20 percent of cars ran stop signs at 3 to 16 mph. Only 45 percent of trucks and 7 percent of cars exceeded 16 mph. Drivers often used judgment over rules, urban areas obeyed more, and higher traffic raised compliance across locations.
Chevrolet introduces perfected hydraulic brakes with a single adjustment per shoe. As lining wears, braking remains full by turning a notched wheel inside the drum through a small opening in the flange plate or drum flange.

New Mexico mourns as T. W. Plunkett and Ray Vietch of the Federal Reemployment Service died in an automobile accident near Magdalena on Sunday. Both men were well liked in Lordsburg where they had many warm friends.
Superintendent Palm leads Lordsburg and Benwood Pields heads Virden with the Rogers Memorial Fund. Katy Hall oversees county schools and all report fine progress. Officials urge many small contributions to please Will.
Mrs. Marie Childers of Hurley is staying as a house guest with Mr. and Mrs. 5. M. Chase this week.
Reminder for cafeteria dinner to be served in the basement of the Methodist church on Thursday November 21 at 6 p m. The event invites community members to gather for a meal and social time in a local church setting.
The big game hunting season ends today after a season with thrills and disappointments. Quail season runs through December 10 while duck season opens on November 20.

The local Red Cross drive begins tomorrow and runs through Saturday November 28 with Mrs H N Beofield as chair overseeing committees on opening day to reach every resident.
Viola Ransom Wood of San Francisco plans a visit to Shakespeare and Lordsburg after forty six years away. Born June 5 1480 in Shakespeare, she is a longtime secretary and publicist for the United Indian War Veterans and contributed to The Sunney Ride column in the San Diego Sun.
George E F Andrews and Eva Louise Pepper were married at the Methodist Parsonage by Rev. C. B. Walker on Armistice Day. Attendants were S J T Pepper and Lilian Pepper. They will reside in Red Rock.
Smith and related families from Apache Arizona including Bailey Smith Earl Smith Andrew Smith Herbert Strange Elizabeth Jack Gus Kimball and two sons gathered for a delightful reunion and dinner at Hidalgo Grill on Saturday evening.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Smith were in Deming on Sunday as visiting business guests for the day showcasing local commerce activity and hospitality.
Willard Holt received an Award of Merit in a national snapshot contest held in Washington by Eastman Kodak for his photo of Misa Allee Jones, a Lordsburg High School honor graduate. Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt chairs the judging panel with Emily Post and others. The display included an enlarged photo and the Award of Merit among high school exhibits.
The Wednesday Sewing club gathered at the home of Mrs. Howard Deaton with Mesdames Howard Deaton George Cureton Paul Brown O Leonard Crawford Mearns Walter Roswell and Mr Marhardt in attendance. Guests Dixie Adams Nathan Blake joined the group for an afternoon of sewing and refreshments including pineapple dessert fruits cake and hot chocolate.
We thank all who patronized the recent Freckles benefit picture and those who sold tickets. Gratitude to the Liberal staff and especially the Allen's of the Palace theatre for their generosity, with thanks also to the Mountainview Cemetery Association.
