Mrs Felix Jones presented a large bouquet of home grown roses to the Chamber of Commerce. Her front lawn holds 50 varieties and the standout bloom measured five and a half inches across. Monuments Erected at Shakespeare Cemetery Honor Local Keepers
Two monuments were erected by Hon. and Mrs. John T. Muir at Shakespeare Cemetery. One tribute, labeled Pioneer, honors the old stage keepers with inscriptions for John N. Evenson who died in 1887 at age 74, keeper of Stage Station, and Sarah Hayes born July 6 1840 died April 30 1947, last stage keeper at San Simon Arizona. The second monument commemorates Feliciano Placensio and his daughter.

Longtime Alamo Hueco Cattle Co head Moorehead dies
Rey Moorehead general manager of the Alamo Hueco Cattle Company for thirty years died Tuesday night in Deming Hospital after a two year illness. Survived by children Mrs. Charles Carter Mrs. Irene Jacobs Mrs. Vivian Moorehead Nellie Mae Jackie Buck Lucky and Sam Moorehead. Funeral services were held Thursday in Hachita. Moorehead was well known throughout the southwest.
