Indigent tax eyed to fund Hidalgo medical center

Lordsburg Council Discusses Field House Bond Timeline

Mary Acosta Dies in California at Whittier

Mary Figueroa Acosta died November 1 in Whittier California. Born March 25 1923 in Valedon New Mexico she is survived by husband Adolfo Fito Acosta daughter Yolanda four sisters Mary Baily La Miranda Betty Delgado Espe Eaton Ernie Saucedo of Lordsburg two brothers Raymon Figueroa South El Monte Louie Figueroa Las Cruces and several nieces and nephews. Knights of Columbus will distribute commodities Saturday November 14 from 9 00 AM to 12 Noon at St Josephs Catholic Church for 499.5 miles of roads within the county.

Annual Chamber Banquet Planned for Lordsburg Tuesday

The Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual banquet Tuesday November 17 at 6 30 PM in the High School Cafetorium. Chris Sanders chamber president will MC with officers David Brazier Pansy McDonald and Marsha Hill on the board. Entertainment will be Rita Hill School of Dance.

Education Week Observance In Lordsburg Schools

Education Week will be observed across the Lordsburg School district from November 15 to 21 with open house events at all schools. The theme We the People Building Schools Together guides ongoing efforts to provide quality education. Open houses run 6 00 to 8 30 p m on November 16 17 18 and 19 at selected campuses and a Thanksgiving turkey drawing will be held in each building. Mayor Clark Smith proclaimed November 16 as Education Week.

Red Rock Wildlife Area Doubled In Size For Bighorn Transplants

The Red Rock Wildlife Area thirty miles north of Lordsburg will double to about 1,482 acres to support more desert bighorn transplants. Fencing begins mid November, funded mainly by the U S Bureau of Land Management and state land interests, with Safari Club International NM chapter paying part of a $2,200 inverted umbrella water catchment to aid watering and habitat expansion.
