Betty Linn Richins was crowned Football Queen at halftime during the Homecoming game between Silver City Oil and Lordsburg Mavericks. The event featured a parade by the visiting band, attendants in pastel gowns, and a red convertible escort as Armando Estrada and Oscar Turrentine officiated the crowning.

French Colonial Engineers To Visit Lordsburg

Three engineers from French territories plan to visit Lordsburg on November 16 to study irrigation and drainage methods in New Mexico for potential use in tropical agriculture. The group includes Francis Adolphe Ciolina from Madagascar Jean A L R Kellerman of Equatorial Africa and Louis A Minjoz of French West Africa. Accompanied by interpreter C Taran they focus on land prep and water application for irrigation and open earth dam systems.

Wings on Wheels Caravan Brings B-45 Tornado to Lordsburg

The U S Air Force Wings on Wheels caravan will display the B-45 Tornado jet bomber in Lordsburg on November 11 from 9 a m to 9 p m on Railroad Street near the Southern Pacific depot. The public may view the aircraft closely as part of a touring display highlighting this historic jet bomber.

Display American Flag On Armistice Day

The Chamber of Commerce urges all businesses to display the American Flag on Saturday November 11 in honor of Armistice Day. Lordsburg and Albuquerque will host the Wings on Wheels caravan attracting visitors from miles around as the exhibit stops in these two New Mexico cities.

Todhunter Ranch Manager Charged With Cattle Theft

Bob Compton, Todhunter Ranch general manager for Mrs. Margaret Tod hunter of Deming, pleaded guilty to cattle theft in Justice court. He faces three counts for mis branding 54 heifers, one bull, and 41 steers, with bond set at 10000 per count and a possible December District Court hearing.

Santa Claus and His Reindeer Visit Lordsburg

The Santa Claus parade sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and local merchants will come to Lordsburg on Friday December 15. Grady Carothers of Goldthwaite Texas will visit with his reindeer that he corralled on his Arctic Circle expedition. Some reindeer will pull Santa's sleigh. Further details will be published later.

Dan Rodriguez Wounded in Korean War Service

Dan Rodriguez nineteen year old son of Cruz Rodriguez of the city was wounded in September during the Korean invasion. He enlisted in the U S Army in March and has been returned to the United States as a patient at William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.
