Animas Fire Department Holds Dedication Activities
Animas Volunteer Firemen hosted an open house at the new station with a plaque dedication to the founders and a equipment demo. Brother Tapley led an invocation, Chief Jeff Campbell shared the department history, and thanked the Roadrunner Club for fundraising help. A U.S. flag donated by Rep Harold Runnels, flown over Washington, was displayed. Visitors toured the station and saw firefighting gear.

Innovative signing to aid tourists near Lordsburg
The New Mexico Highway Department will install five tourist information signs on I 10 near Lordsburg as part of an innovative signing pilot approved by FHWA. Signs will show counts of campgrounds motels restaurants and service stations with a fifth sign listing Lordsburg next exit. The project by J H Supply Co of Albuquerque costs 416 413 and includes related signs in Truth or Consequences Santa Rosa and Santa Fe area. Traffic may be intermittently halted for sign work with warnings and lane merges as needed.

The new USDA Food Stamp distribution procedure set for Dec 1 locally will be delayed and implemented later. participants will be advised by letter or news media.

Dr. Eric York, a dentist, will open his Lordsburg clinic adjacent to Hidalgo General Hospital on November 15 after returning from Nebraska this summer.
