Representative A. W. I. Fernandez died Wednesday morning at an Albuquerque hospital after a long career in Congress. He had just been re elected for an eighth term and was completing fourteenth year in office. He introduced the Rural Electrification Authority Act and was known for independent thinking and voting for constituents' best interests. Burial is planned in Santa Fe Saturday.
