The Lordsburg Mavericks will host the Clayton Yellowjackets in a pre playoff game Saturday at 1 30 PM with gates opening at 1130. Season parking spaces cost 1 and tickets are 450 for adults and 350 for students set by the N M A A with advance tickets sold at the High School office. Fifty cents from each ticket funds non athletic activities and drug and alcohol prevention programs.

Richard B. Rice 83 of Lordsburg dies in Silver City
Richard B. Rice, 83, of Lordsburg, formerly publisher of the Lordsburg Liberal, died Tuesday at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. He fostered community service as a former Hidalgo County official and New Mexico press leader. Funeral Friday at First United Methodist Church Lordsburg with burial in Mountain View Cemetery. Survivors include wife Mary Frances, son William A. Rice, grandchildren Rex Rice, William Rice Jr, Kate Lawrence, and brother Philip Rice. Preceded in death by son Richard B. Rice Jr. Remains entrusted to Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.
